I recently stumbled across this design hidden away in my computers files, I had totally forgotten about it! This is my original poster design for the Summer Design Ball. The reason for 'original' was because I ended up changing it to the paint chip design because all of my designs at that point had been vector illustrations and I needed more variation in my final portfolio.

This was one of my first ever major Illustrations using Illustrator, and it's one of my favourites because I don't often get to see my boyfriend in a suit ha ha!

Here is a set of three advertisements for Dairy Farmers I did in my last semester of University.

The brief was to prepare three magazine advertisements for the brand chosen by your group that are creative, individual and are appropriate to the brands positioning and standing in the market place.

I was really pleased with how they turned out. I just set up a white sheet of paper against the wall and photographed the dairy products using natural light, simple but effective! I had an assistant (Rich) help me with pouring the milk and holding the spoons!

My ads focus on Dairy Farmers being the best, which explains the headings:

For university I had to design three highly creative spectacular sized billboards that promote the Australian Organ Donor Register. I am not an organ donor myself, I never really liked the idea of someone cutting me up after I had passed away and letting parts of myself live on through other people. BUT, my views were drastically changed after doing this assignment. 

Did you know that....

- In January 2011 there were over 110,000 people waiting for an organ transplant ?

- One organ and tissue donor can save the lives of up to ten people and significantly improve the lives of dozens more? 

- Around 1700 people are on Australian organ transplant waiting lists at any one time?

These statistics amazed me. I never knew that one person could save up to 10 people and improve the lives of dozens more. It's incredible the things we take for granted sometimes.

I went for a simple design that would have a high impact. The design shows someone that has passed away giving their organ to someone who needs it.

Goodbye Newcastle, hello big world....

So it's official, I finished uni today! I can't believe it!!
The past three years have just flown by so quickly.
So now I'm just sitting at home twiddling my thumbs.... I have absolutely nothing to do and it feels so weird!

The last month I have been full on with designing, printing, mounting and finishing my website and now... nothing.... I just can't really explain how I feel! It's a neutral feeling ha ha!

I went into the 15 minute interview quite nervous, but I was surprised as to how laid back everyone was. Before me sat a panel of 4 judges all highly experienced in design, and i had to show them my portfolio, which consisted of 15 tasks which i have completed in the last 14 weeks! They were really positive and just fantastic! They made me feel very comfortable and very confident.

Rich gave me some great advice, he said 'If you pretend to be confident you will look confident,' and 'It is just like when you take your L's test, it's over before you know it.' He was so right!! I walked in with my shoulders back (what Rich told me to do haha) and the lady said to me straight off 'oh don't you look stunning.'

It's been an incredible experience, I have learnt so much and I'm going to miss it thats for sure!

Tomorrow I already have a small job lined up, which is re-designing some work books! So that should keep me from going insane!

Here is one design in particular that the entire panel just LOVED! It took me no time at all and I did it a few nights before the presentation!

It's that time of year again...

I have been so busy over the last few weeks, overloaded with uni work. Only two weeks to go now, it's a very scary feeling. So this week I have been working on a Christmas card design for the University of Newcastle, they wanted a card that reflected these attributes:

- Australia & Newcastle
- The hope and inspiration of Christmas and the New Year
- Reflect education as the hope of the future

So this is what i came up with:

To reflect Australia I used the Southern Cross.
To reflect Newcastle I used the Newcastle city logo.
To reflect hope and inspiration I used a candle.
To reflect education as the hope of the future i used the Newcastle University logo.
